We are now looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable person who wants to work with the county's nature reserves.

Job Responsibilities

You will be part of a working group that works to protect natural areas. Your tasks include participating in the process of establishing nature reserves, primarily in forest environments. You will also work on revising decisions and management plans for existing nature reserves.

The work is varied and the role includes, among other things:

• analyzing, assessing, and compiling background material
• drafting and writing reports, management plans, and decisions
• engaging in dialogue with property owners, authorities, and other stakeholders
• inventorying natural values may also be relevant.

The tasks may be adjusted based on your skills and previous experiences.

About the Workplace

You will work in the Unit for Nature Conservation and Management at the Department of Nature and Environment. The unit's approximately 15 employees are responsible for the establishment and management of nature reserves, action programs for threatened terrestrial species (ÅGP), terrestrial environmental monitoring, outdoor recreation, and green infrastructure. Currently, three employees are working in the group that deals with area protection issues.

The unit has an experienced, cheerful, and committed team that collaborates with others to preserve the most important and valuable natural environments in the county. Together, we have extensive experience and broad expertise, and as an employee, there are good opportunities to learn from each other and thus develop both in your own and others' areas of expertise.

Qualifications

We are looking for a person with an interest in and good knowledge of nature. It is important to have:

• completed higher education as a biologist or natural scientist, or other education/experience deemed equivalent by the County Administrative Board
• good knowledge of nature conservation or ecology and familiarity with our most common natural types
• good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing (in Swedish)
• driving license B

Experience in the following areas is an advantage:

• protection, management, or inventorying natural values
• GIS
• working in government
